Complimentary IMAX® Experience
All tours include a complimentary ticket to the new IMAX movie “Grand Canyon: Rivers of Time," winner of the 2023 Best Visual Effects award by the Giant Screen Cinema Association. The Grand Canyon Visitor Center IMAX® Theater now features IMAX® with Laser Technology – a next-generation laser projection system and 12-channel sound system exclusive to IMAX® theatres. The 37-minute film plays hourly at half-past the hour (see IMAX Theater Showtimes).
Grand Canyon history, science and mythology come alive through epic aerial IMAX photography complemented by spectacular, mesmerizing, super-high resolution time-lapse photography. The geological formation of the Canyon is showcased using stunning CGI animation, while the fascinating story of early civilizations, and their mysterious disappearance, is brought to life on the giant screen.
If you would like to see the film prior to your tour, please check in an hour-and-a-half before your scheduled tour departure time. You are also welcome to watch the movie after you return from your tour.
