Tour Details

Explore one of the World’s Seven Engineering Wonders from above and below on this unique Hoover Dam tour that combines a 90-minute boat ride on the Colorado River, a walk atop the Dam and a tour inside the Hoover Dam Power Plant*.

We’ll pick you up from your hotel in our custom PINK Adventure Tour Trekker and you’ll ride in comfort from Las Vegas to Hoover Dam. While en route, your local adventure guide will share stories about the history, geology, geography and ecosystems of the Las Vegas Valley and Mohave Desert.

Nearing the dam, we’ll drive through historic Boulder City and learn about its important role in the dam’s construction. Established in 1931 to house the nearly 5,000 workers who built the dam, it still retains its vintage charm. Your Certified Adventure Guide will share myths, legends and fun trivia about the area during the days of the Great Depression and Prohibition.

At Hoover Dam Lodge, you’ll have time to tour historic photo exhibits before boarding a shuttle to embark on the most unique part of this tour—a 90-minute float on the Colorado River. Your Hoover Dam Rafting Adventures’ guide will point out relics of the dam’s past on the short walk to the boat launch.

From the Dam’s basin, marvel at up-close views of Hoover Dam’s spillways, the rock cliffs of the Black Canyon and an amazing vantage point of the Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge. The striking arch overpass connects Arizona to Nevada, 900 feet above the Colorado River. Located in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, it is the second-tallest bridge in the U.S. and the widest concrete arch in the Western Hemisphere. Take a good look because soon you’ll be up there looking down!

Next is a complimentary picnic lunch and a photo stop on the Arizona side of Hoover Dam—the shining gem of our tour. Standing over 700 feet tall, its capacity can irrigate two million acres and it generates power to 1.3 million people in Nevada, Arizona and California annually. We’ll travel to the Nevada side for a walking tour on top of the Dam and visit the Winged Figures of the Republic statue.

Then, go below deck for a guided tour of the Hoover Dam Power Plant, led by a Bureau of Reclamation employee. Walk through the Dam’s original construction tunnels to a viewing platform overlooking a 30-foot diameter penstock and see eight of the commercial generators in the Nevada Powerhouse.

You'll have time to tour exhibits and shop for souvenirs at the Hoover Dam Visitor Center before starting the relaxing, return trip to Las Vegas. You'll go home with amazing memories of Hoover Dam from Top to Bottom!
